VISITATION AND VOLUNTERING,
Financial Coach
Volunteers are needed to teach women’s groups social and financial skills such as personal development, savings, goal setting, budget, spending and bookkeeping. Knowledge of how to use technology particularly mobile phones for transparency and safety is important
Materials: Pencils, notebooks, solar-powered calculators
Librarian and or Reading Coach
Volunteers are required to organize a community library (proper cataloguing and classification of books) and take the initiative to open up the library room for local children daily while helping to organize and conduct reading camps for primary students.
Materials: Elementary reading level books, funds for books and computers and software.
Sports Coach –Sports for Transformation
Volunteers are needed to coordinate and coach games and practices for young people. Teach rules of the game, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Materials: Sports equipment (examples: balls and nets)
Construction Instructor
Provide instruction and technical advice on constructing varies low-cost permanent structures for guardians (grandmothers), schools and health centres such as houses, toilets and hand-washing stations. Involve locals in the construction and make sure they can do it on their own once volunteers have left.
Materials: Funds for a house/ toilets/ hand-washing stations
VOLUNTEER DURATION:
Minimum time for placement and stay is 1 month.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Once you have chosen a project for your trip, your first step should be to submit your volunteer application with project proposal. Once you have received an acceptance email from Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust you will need to prepare for your trip! If you have any questions, we can arrange for you to talk with our director Masika Moreen before your departure.
ARRIVAL IN UGANDA
Flying into Uganda, you arrive at the Entebbe International Airport on the shores of Lake Victoria, about 3 km from the town centre of Entebbe. Entebbe Airport is about 45 minutes to 2 hours car ride south from Kampala depending on road traffic. Please be sure to have emailed the Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust Director your flight details prior to your arrival so he can arrange you to be met and greeted on your arrival.
AIRPORT PICK-UP
Kampala is the capital city of Uganda and is approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours away from Entebbe International Airport, depending on traffic. At the airport, Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust staff will be ready to receive you and we get an Airport Taxi take you to your hotel or guesthouse in Kampala for check in. The airport transfer will cost about $80 USD, including vehicle, driver and fuel.
TRANSFER FROM KAMPALA TO ARUWO IN KASESE
Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust is located in the village of Kisinga in the Kasese District, about 500 km south west of Kampala. The drive takes about 6 – 8 hours in the bus. Depending on your budget and comfort level, Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust can recommend and arrange the best transport option for you.
OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT
Volunteers can also work in their home country helping with the following tasks;-
(a). Helping to connect Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust with institutions around your community (organization, school/ college/ university, sports club, youth group/women group, church, clinic, etc.)
(b). Organising fundraisers – this can be for a specific project or general program.
(c). Besides all the above, you can support Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust by donate seed money for community projects which can be paid to our bank account in Centenary bank Kasese branch and post Bank.
The Visit
The Need
Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust is in need of volunteers and donations to assist the need communities in Rwenzori region to foster development and Nature conservation.
Volunteer Opportunities
ELIGIBILITY AND BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Applicants are required to fulfill the requirements;-
Be 16 years or older, unless approved by Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust and accompanied by an adult.
Speak and read Basic English.
Secure funding for travels and accommodations. Volunteers are responsible for the following costs:-
Passport and Visa fees
All necessary vaccinations
Airfare to and from Uganda
Room and board at the local Guesthouse ($35 per day)
Transportation while in Uganda (including the trip from Kampala to Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust and back)
At least one night hotel stay in Kampala
Background check (approximately $50)
Submit for approval a detailed plan outlining a project prior to departure. Applicants must be able to start and finish the project in the time period of their visit.
Complete a state and national background check
Complete all of the pre-trip and post-trip requirements,

Blogger/Writer
Volunteers are needed to document Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust activities with blog posts, non-fiction stories, interviews, and photos. The volunteer should also be willing to use these materials to promote Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust through social media as well.
Materials: Laptop, DSLR Camera, projectors and many others
Photographer/Videographer
Volunteers are needed to take photos, film videos to document Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust’s community programs. The volunteer should also be willing to use these materials to market and promote Rwenzori Community Environmental Conservation Trust and can go further to use the materials to raise funds.
